Eating in MBR City, around an anchor that is not built

Read almost anything about this district and you will be told its dining revolves around Meydan One Mall. It has not opened. Development is on hold and no completion date is set, so the question of where MBR City actually eats has a different answer.

The racecourse, which is the real anchor

Meydan Racecourse and The Meydan Hotel carry the district's only real concentration of restaurants, and they are open year-round rather than only on race days. The Grandstand side holds The Little Fox by Rowley's, Salt, Yamanote, McGettigan's and Rationed Cafe; the hotel adds Farriers for all-day dining, the Millennium Lounge on the racecourse terrace, and Equus at the rooftop pool.

It is an unusual answer to "where do I eat near home" and it is the honest one. Nothing else inside the district's boundaries comes close for range.

Riviera's promenade

The one community you can eat in without driving: ground-floor dining and a supermarket along the canal front. See Riviera's food page for what is actually open there — it is a shorter list than the renders suggest, and it is still filling in.

Meydan One Mall, when it arrives

The plan is genuinely large — over 600 shops, around 100 restaurants and cafés, a 21-screen cinema, and a 150 by 80 metre retractable roof for the winter months. It was originally due in 2020.

Its status today is under development, on hold, with no date set. Worth knowing before buying into a community on the strength of it, because a mall that has slipped six years is not a delivery date, it is a hope. Checked 30 August 2026.

Groceries

Most communities here have convenience-level grocery at best. Larger supermarkets mean a drive to Meydan or Business Bay. Riviera's on-site supermarket is the nearest thing to an exception, and it is one supermarket.
